Astronomy is studying/knowing about moving/dynamic of space object such as stars, moon, asteroid and comet and so on. this is very interesting study because it's reveal our secret of old universe. astronomy came from two basics word, 'astro' and 'nomos' which is means law of stars. star born from a explotion (supernova process) . our sun is a closet star to the earth and alpha centaury is second closet stars to the earth. What about others star? there are many stars in the sky. it's was devide by 88 region or we call constelation, each constelation consist some nearest stars and leader by one brightest star. beside that the other name of stars are spica, serius, rigel, barnard, polaris and so on. you will never lost when you knowing of this things.
